We regret to announce that Collingwood Museum and Library has been sold and we are forced to relocate.  We will soon move our collection and furniture into storage while we research homes in the DC Metro area.  If anybody has suggestions of possible homes for our DC Mayflower Society Library, please contact Deputy Governor Glennon Harrison.

Greetings to all Mayflower Society Officers,

The General Society of Mayflower Descendants is working to get the U.S. Mint to issue a commemorative coin for the 400th anniversary of the pilgrims’ landing in Plymouth. To learn more about this coin program, please check this website: http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs/?action=commemoratives

Congressional approval must be obtained to issue a commemorative coin, and the process begins by passing a bill in the House of Representatives. This is where we need your help. Congressman Bill Foster (Illinois) will be introducing a bill in next Congress to commission a commemorative coin in celebration of the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the pilgrims. He will need many co-sponsors for this bill. Please contact your Representative to ask him or her to co-sponsor that bill. Attached is a draft letter that you may personalize and use if you wish. You may send it electronically or print it to mail it by traditional post office. Feel free to circulate this request with your officers and members. This effort is time sensitive, since the new Congress will convene in January. We may also be able to take advantage of the increased awareness of the pilgrims at this holiday time of the year if we all respond quickly.

You can look up contact information for your Representative by going towww.house.gov and entering your zip-code. If your Representative was just elected for the first time, you will need to find that address locally. Thank you in advance for asking your Representative to co-sponsor this bill. Our organization also owes thanks to the Illinois Society for initiating this proposal.
